SUMMARY:A Hidden Wholeness: Discovering God Through Photography
DESCRIPTION:We are living in a world that is absolutely transparent and God is shining through it all the time. God manifests Himself everywhere\, in everything – in people and in things and in nature and in events … The only thing is we don’t see it … I have no program for this seeing. It is only given. But the gate of heaven is everywhere. \nThomas Merton\, OCSO \n  \nThis workshop explores how photography can deepen our awareness of the Sacred through the art of photography. We will look at some examples of Merton’s photography and then engage our creative eye in an attempt to capture some of the Divine\, as focused in our personal images. In this afternoon gathering\, you are invited to take some time away to allow our perceptions to expand and become clearer. It will be a journey of attentiveness and presence\, as we capture our photos on the beautiful grounds of St. Raphaela Center. We will then share our efforts with our group\, providing some insight to why we chose these particular images and how it informs our spirituality. Photography can become our prayer\, reflecting the Glory of God. \nRegister Here by June 20

SUMMARY:Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Writing can be a spiritual act\, a way for us to process our experiences and engage in conversations with God. In this workshop\, Catholic writer John Dougherty (America Magazine\, National Catholic Reporter\, Jesuit Media Lab) will offer some skills for bringing our spiritual stories to life on the page and\, even more importantly\, some time and space to write. \nFlow of the Afternoon: \n1:00-2:00 - "Bringing Our Spiritual Stories to Life" --- John Dougherty sets the tone of our afternoon\, shares tips of his own writing process and contextualizes why writing is indeed\, a very spiritual practice!\n\n2:00-3:15 - Independent Writing --- Settle into a desk in our art studio or a bench on our grounds. Walk the labyrinth or swing in a hammock. Spend 75 minutes writing without distraction. You can bring your own prompt or project to make progress on -- or use one of the prompts provided to  you by John.\n\n3:15-4:00 - Sharing and Wrap Up --- Listen to the written words of others and share your own if you'd like! Enjoy a communal reflection on: "What did I notice during those 75 minutes? What thoughts arose in me? and Where did my mind wander? Finally\, set a writing intention for the spring and voice it out loud in a supportive circle.\n  \nRegister by April 3\n*If you are a student\, full-time volunteer or campus minister\, please use the discount code ART when registering.

SUMMARY:Embodied Prayer: Walking the Labyrinth
DESCRIPTION:Lisa Hibberd will guide us in a beautiful afternoon of getting in touch with our bodies\, using breath-work\, stretches\, and gentle movements as we reflect on our wholeness and reconnect with the natural world. We will walk the outdoor labyrinth\, an ancient spiritual practice\, and take time for quiet reflection and journaling. There will also be the option to use a handheld labyrinth\, which each participant will take home with them. We will conclude by spending some time in sacred sharing and exploring how you can incorporate movement into your daily prayer life at home. \nA labyrinth is an ancient spiritual resource that offers the opportunity to invite people into a deeper spiritual connection by quieting the mind\, opening the heart\, and engaging the body. Walking a labyrinth allows dedicated time and space for prayer\, meditation\, and thoughtful reflection. It is a place to retreat\, restore\, and renew. The labyrinth provides nonjudgmental space for community building\, healing\, and contemplation. They may be found at churches\, synagogues\, hospitals\, wellness centers\, spas\, prisons\, schools and universities\, playgrounds and community centers\, as well as backyards and beaches. \nRegistration deadline: October 27 \n*If you are a student\, full-time volunteer or campus minister\, please use the discount code ART when registering. \n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\nUpcoming Arts & Spirituality Workshops in the Fall Series

SUMMARY:Crafting with Soul: The Life in Christ Paper Flower
DESCRIPTION:Crafting with Soul: The Life in Christ Paper Flower is a unique and enriching creative workshop designed to nourish both your artistic spirit and your faith journey. In this workshop\, participants will each build a giant paper rose while reflecting on aspects of Christian life petal by petal. "Crafting with Soul: The Life in Christ Paper Flower" is more than just a crafting session; it's a holistic experience that nurtures your creativity and faith\, leaving you feeling inspired and renewed. \n\nShera Morris grew up in Alabama with a pastor father and an art teacher mother. Her household was equal parts creative projects and preaching. As a true reflection of that upbringing\, Shera has owned several creative businesses and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Theological Studies. The thesis to finish that degree was titled Visual Arts in Ministry. These two worlds have always been combined for Shera and she looks forward to continuing to reflect the creativity of our Creator. You can find Shera on Instagram @whatshemakin where she's making dinner for her family\, decor for her home in Elkins Park\, or dolls for her daughter.\n\n\n\nRegistration deadline: September 21 \nTreat your soul to a full day art retreat!  We're offering the option to register for a full-day option\, which includes participating in our Crafting with Soul workshop in the morning with Shera Morris\, enjoying a delicious lunch provided by the Center\, and wrapping up the day with SoulCollage® with Kathy Garrett. \n\n\n*If you are a student\, full-time volunteer or campus minister\, please use the discount code ART when registering.  \n\n  \nREGISTER HERE\nUpcoming Arts & Spirituality Workshops in the Fall Series
