Outdoor Mass: Season of Creation

At St. Raphaela Center, our gardens are becoming living parables — showing that when we care for creation, we join in God’s work of renewal.
Join us for a Season of Creation Mass! Bring your own lawn chair, and renew your relationship with our Creator and all creation through: Celebration, Conversion, Commitment!
After mass there will be an opportunity to learn about resources from EcoPhilly, a network of parishes, schools, groups from across the Archdiocese of Philadelphia created to implement the teachings of the 2015 Laudato Si’ encyclical letter of Pope Francis. They are prepared to help you to create and build Creation Care Teams and Projects, that create a caring environment based on a contemplative Christian spirit and the common good!
We'll also share all about our sustainability initiatives here at the Center...especially our upcoming Sponsor a Native Plant Initiative! Most recently, we have....
- Installed rain gardens to slow, filter, and clean stormwater before it enters the Cobbs Creek watershed.
- Added rain barrels to capture roof runoff for reuse in gardens.
- Replaced lawn areas with native meadows, woodland plantings, and pollinator gardens.
- Planted densely to crowd out weeds, protect soil, and create thriving habitats.
- Educated our community about the spiritual + ecological benefits caring for creation!
No registration is needed. Join us and help us spread the word!
Save the date for our community planting day on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Saturday, October 4 at 1pm. Registration available soon!
